Demo (Paper) Trading Guide
Demo Trading is one of the most important steps in becoming a profitable trader. Many beginners skip this stage and jump straight into live trading. Unfortunately, that's also how many accounts get blown. Demo trading removes the pressure of losing real money and allows you to focus on what actually matters:
Learning
Practicing
Building confidence
Understanding how trades work
Think of it like learning to drive. You wouldn't drive a Formula 1 car on your first day.
Before You Start
Before placing your first trade, it's important to understand the different order types.
Market Order
A Market Order executes your trade immediately at the current market price.
This is the easiest way to enter a trade and is what we recommend for beginners.
Limit Order
A Limit Order allows you to choose the exact price where you want your trade to execute. Instead of entering immediately, your order waits until price reaches your chosen level.
More advanced traders use limit orders for better entries, but you don't need to worry about them yet.
Take Profit & Stop Loss
Every trade should have both. Take Profit (TP)
Automatically closes your trade when your target is reached.
Stop Loss (SL)
Automatically closes your trade if price moves against you.
These tools help remove emotions and improve risk management.
Our Recommendation
Keep things simple. Use:
Market Orders
Take Profit
Stop Loss
Don't worry about making money yet. Your current goal is simply to:
Learn
Practice
Make mistakes
Build experience
The more demo trades you take, the more comfortable you'll become before risking real money.

Follow these steps to place your first demo trade.

Step 1: Open a clean chart on TradingView.
Step 2: Click the Buy or Sell button in the top-left corner.
Step 3: Select Paper Trading by TradingView and connect your paper trading account.
Step 4: Right-click anywhere on the chart and open Settings.

Step 6: Use the Buy or Sell buttons to place your first paper trade.
Step 7: Congratulations! You've officially placed your first demo trade.
Step 8: Manage your trade using Take Profit and Stop Loss.
Long (Buy)
TP goes above your entry.
SL goes below your entry.
Short (Sell)
TP goes below your entry.
SL goes above your entry.
Final Takeaway
Your goal right now isn't to become profitable. Your goal is to become comfortable. Take as many demo trades as you can. Experiment. Make mistakes. Learn from every trade.
Once you're consistently comfortable in demo trading, you'll be much better prepared to transition into a live account.
